Karamba Security’s XGuard Selected to Enable HP’s ‘World’s Most Secure Printing’ Mission

HOD HASHARON, Israel, August 02, 2022 – Karamba Security, a leader in end-to-end product security, was selected by HP to enhance security for their newest line of managed printers. The HP LaserJet Managed E800/E700 series is a new portfolio of multi-function printers optimized for a hybrid workforce.

Security is HP’s key differentiation, touting their new offer as “the world’s most secure printing.” To that end, HP stated they are using “Karamba Security’s XGuard Control Flow Integrity (CFI) to monitor the execution flow of the printer firmware to help detect and prevent potential zero-day attacks.”

HP selected Karamba Security’s XGuard due to its broad market acceptance, seamless integration with the firmware build toolchain, negligible performance impact and strong embedded security technology. XGuard software enables connected device manufacturers to assure their customers a high level of business continuity and protection against cyberattacks.

XGuard CFI provides HP with a seamlessly integrated IoT security software that deterministically prevents malware and fileless attacks and delivers proactive alerts upon attack attempts.

Automatically created, Karamba’s patented Control Flow Graph is monitored in runtime and validates forward and backward memory address jumps. Even if the code has memory vulnerabilities like buffer overflow and other in-memory vulnerabilities, XGuard will not allow exploits and issues alerts on exploit attempts.

Karamba CFI is seamlessly applied on the OS and application levels and protects the function calls within all binaries, libraries and scripts, as well as within OS functions.
